In an ADHD child, low levels of dopamine don’t allow the child to focus or attend to anything in the environment, looking very physically hyperactive due to their lack of focus. They work on a lot of different things at once. People with dopamine deficiencies tend to start a lot of things yet don’t finish them. ADD is a symptom of a dopamine deficiency.īecoming quickly bored with the routine and having a hard time focusing are classic symptoms. Did you know cheese should be white?Synthetic dyes cause hyperactivity because it is an excitotoxin, where it over stimulates our dopamine production, but then we don’t produce enough which causes a deficiency. It’s not just the hot pink cherries in the Captain Crunch that have these detrimental dyes cheese, vegetable juice, and yogurt contain food coloring. We have a natural instinct linking color to freshness, and to entice kids to eat junk. They’re in almost all processed foods and even some fresh whole foods fruit growers are now allowed to dip oranges in a carcinogenic red food dye to make them more appealing. There’s good reason to cut the artificial food coloring. I get frustrated when I hear type 2 diabetics tell me that sugar-free Jell-O is considered a “free” food item for them to consume. 1/23/2024 0 Comments Hit snooze button ecard![]() ![]() Though many sunrise alarm clocks come with a sound function, too, they primarily work by mimicking the light of a sunrise in your bedroom, so that you naturally move to a lighter sleep stage by the point when it’s time for you to wake up. And by using light instead of sound, a sunrise alarm clock can create a more seamless transition. Try a sunrise alarm clockĪgain, the blare of a regular alarm clock is not exactly the gentlest way to shuttle your body and mind from sleep to wakefulness in the first place. Whether it’s a breakfast food you crave, a favorite song you’ll listen to in the shower, or just a few minutes of early-morning sunlight, if there’s something you’re looking forward to in the morning, you’ll be less likely to postpone your wakeup. ![]() More motivation to get out of bed is another smart defense against the snooze button, says Dr. Give yourself something to look forward to in the morning “So, if you continue to snooze and end up staying awake in bed, thinking about the day or how you have to get up soon, it can cause your brain to connect those feelings with being in bed, which dilutes the bed-sleep relationship and can hurt your sleep quality.”ģ. “I always recommend getting out of bed within five minutes of your alarm going off because the more time you spend in bed doing things other than sleeping, the more your brain starts to connect those activities with being in bed, rather than sleeping,” says Dr. ![]() Holliday-BellĮven if you’re not necessarily falling back asleep between the alarms, and you’re really just using the snooze period to chill for a few minutes before getting up, that’s still probably not the best idea long-term. “If you are constantly falling back asleep after your alarm clock goes off, the clock can become a confusing signal for wakefulness.” -Dr. ![]() Which is to say, you might struggle even more with actually waking up on time when you need to, and you could find it easier to oversleep on subsequent nights, she says. “If you are constantly falling back asleep after your alarm clock goes off, the clock can become a confusing signal for wakefulness,” says Dr. And again, because those deeper sleep stages are lengthier and more common in the hours just before you get out of bed, you’re all the more likely to fall back into one of those phases post-snooze and have that much more trouble shaking off the sleepiness when your alarm rings once again.Īside from this potential heart impact, the effects of snoozing can also put a wrench in your sleep routine the more often you do it. That’s because sleep inertia-which is that drowsy just-woke-up feeling- sticks around longer when you wake up from a deeper sleep stage, like REM sleep, than it does when you wake up from a light sleep stage, says Dr. “This sleep fragmentation can leave you feeling worse than you would have if you hadn’t interrupted your sleep cycle with the snooze button in the first place.” “We experience more REM sleep as we approach the morning-meaning that if you snooze, you’re likely to fall back into a REM cycle but won’t have time to complete it before your alarm goes off again,” she says. “Sleep fragmentation can leave you feeling worse than you would have if you hadn’t interrupted your sleep cycle with the snooze button in the first place.” -Angela Holliday-Bell, MD, sleep physicianĪnd the second (and third and fourth…) time you wake up post-snoozing may be even tougher than the first, given that you’re more likely to be waking yourself up in the beginning or middle of a REM cycle, says Dr. The problem with snoozing, though, is that it puts your body through the ringer of awakening in this high-stress fashion not just once but multiple times. While this is not the best way to wake up (that would be waking up naturally or with a gentle no-sound alarm clock), the demands of life might require you to wake up this way, particularly if you have to be awake at a time that doesn’t align with your natural sleep chronotype. The real-time negative effects of snoozing your alarmĪny noise-based alarm tends to activate your sympathetic nervous system: the fight-or-flight response that jolts you awake with a release of cortisol, which temporarily elevates your heart rate and blood pressure. ![]() 1/23/2024 0 Comments Lego orange gems![]() ![]() Walk-ins please be aware that the session may already be sold out. * There will be an additional $3 charge for walk-in registrations at the door. You should ideally optimize your power band to your preferences so for a daily driver stick with a fast road K20 camshaft Motorsport and race camshafts, increase the top end band but as a result the car will not idle smoothly and low end power nearly always suffers.Ī Motorsport camshaft is not great driving around busy urban areas. NB: Fast road camshafts tend to increase the performance through the rev band, you could drop a little bottom end bhp but the top end will be lifted. You can think of the K20A3 as a 12 valve engine under 2200rpm and over this threshold the additional 4 valves are used thanks to the additional cam lobes. Interestingly it's worth noting that the K20A3 VTEC only works on the intake but on the K20A2 it operates intake and exhaust. This saves the effort of sourcing and fitting a fast road cam and may suit your K20 tuning needs more suitably.Ĭompetition cams, bump the high end rpm power band but as a result the car will not idle smoothly and low end power nearly always suffers.įor a road car must carefully try to optimize your power band to your driving style. With the VTEC engines you can potentially force the VTEC to cut in at lower RPM, effectively giving you more low end power and better pickup as the sacrifice of economy. ![]() Altering the camshaft profile alters the intake and exhaust durations on the engine and can dramatically change the torque and power output. Significant gains on the K20 can be made from camshaft upgrades. The cylinder heads were also ported and polished and these special engines were hand tooled at the factory to very tight tolerances. The Spec R K20 engine was fitted with a lighter flywheel and boasted high compression pistons, stiffer valve springs and longer camshaft durations. Head swaps are popular mods, for example putting the K20A head and cam profile on the K20A2 to benefit from the cam durations and timing. Also you can look to perform head mods (flowing and porting), bigger valves, fast road cams and forced induction upgrades to improve fuel.Ī stock K20 can usually cope with around 400hp before internal strengthening is required but we've heard of some K20A3 blocks breaking rods at 340hp. Fuel to Air ratio is vital so upgrade the fuel pump & injectors. Expect 10-20% on NASP engines and 30-40% on turbocharged units.Įvery tuning project will aim to increase the air supply, but fuel supply is just as vital and will need to match the air the engine can utilise. While some cars can be easily remapped, others may require piggyback ECU's or aftermarket ECU's but this is the most vital step of your tuning project as it fully releases the power from all of your mods and upgrades. Whilst most engines can cope with mild tuning mods, TorqueCars recommend that you upgrade the internal components before these weak spots manifest themselves. Tuned cars will show up weaknesses, typically in the turbochargers, clutch and internal engine components. ![]() Guide to the Best K20 Tuning Mods & UpgradesĪ restricted intake or exhaust will have an impact on your car's performance, so use an induction kit/filter upgrade and better flowing exhaust whenever your tuning creates a flow restriction.īraking, Suspension and general alignment of the suspension components is vital for any tuning project even before you start increasing power. The K20Z4 was related to an S2000 engine so dropping in the crank from the S2000 would give good power gains (research your engine and donor engines carefully before doing this).
